Implement regular communication expectation for SOBA America’s President
Vision: We will establish constant channels of communication with SOBANS for a continuous flow of information all year round and dialogue with SOBANS.
Discussion: Dr. Fote’s leadership philosophy requires leaders to be good communicators. As president of the Association of Cameroonian Physicians in the Americas (ACPA), he has established a monthly President’s Message which he sends to his members with routine updates. As chair of the emergency department where he works, he has established a tradition of a weekly newsletter called HOT SPOTS which he uses to communicate with his staff every Wednesday. These have been very effective ways to stay in touch with his team, in addition to other modalities. He intends to bring this leadership philosophy to SOBA America.
Action items: We will establish a regular formal communication from the president to SOBANS. This will be either quarterly or bi-monthly newsletter/message delivered via personalized email to each SOBAN and via the SOBA America business WhatsApp group This message will include updates on SOBA America matters, Best Practice spotlight of initiative by individual SOBA America chapters or class groups that could be good examples for other chapters to follow/implement,Celebrate each other spotlight on a SOBAN in the news, and/or any other message from SOBANS to the group that they’d like the president to share.
We will also establish regular general “meet and greet”
Zoom sessions between the administration and general SOBA America body for
dialogue with the President and his team We will establish regular engagement
of the President and his administration with different class groups and chapter
presidents for dialogue, problem solving and sharing of best-practice
initiatives of chapters across SOBA America. Such initiatives will be
highlighted in regular communication to SOBA America membership.
