Global leadership and respect for SOBA America: (2) Strengthen SOBA America's organizational and operational structure

A: Work on the creation of Sasse Alumni Association in Canada

Vision: We will continue to work hard to create Sasse Alumni Association in Canada.

Discussion: Dr. Fote was the principal architect in the Itoe administration SOBA America restructuring process that led to the creation of a three-tiered structure that ensures compliance with the laws governing non-profit organizations in the USA and charity organizations in Canada, while allowing membership with benefits to SOBANS In the USA and Canada. The three-tiered structure comprises of SOBA America which is a for-profit organization that can cater to membership needs in the USA and Canada, Sasse Alumni Association – USA which is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization in the USA that handles all non-profit/philanthropic activities of our association in the USA and Sasse Alumni Association – Canada which will be a charity in Canada that will handle all non-profit/philanthropic activities of our association in Canada. We are still working towards creating the charity in Canada, as our efforts so far have been stalled by governmental bureaucracy beyond our control.

Action items:
The Fote administration will work with Chairman Ayah and his team in Canada to register Sasse Alumni Association in Canada. Dr. Fote will step down as the co-chair of the board of directors of Sasse Alumni Association. A new chair will be appointed to lead the board. The board will work to solidify the organizational structure and work of Sasse Alumni Association.
